Memories of Roger
Roger belonged to the Royal-Airs Drum and Bugle Corps. On the Anniversary of the Fire The Royal-Airs remember our three Members along with all of the victims by gathering at Queen of Heaven Cemetery to play taps and remember. We had such a great time in Drum & Bugle Corps in the 1960's. We only wish that Roger, Valerie Ann Thoma and Francis Guzaldo could have been with us.
    -- (A fellow Royal-Air)
Roger and his little brother, Gary, lived close to us in St. Helen parish before they move to OLA. I remember that Roger was a kind, bright, and interesting boy. I always thought he looked like Steve Allen, and my brother Bob and I always enjoyed his company. I will always remember the day of the fire, the smell of smoke in the air, fear for the fate of the students and the nuns. Only later did we learn that our friend died. May he rest in peace. God's love and peace to his survivors.
