About me: |
I was in the sixth grade at St Anthony's Catholic School in Casper Wy at the time of this horrible fire. I remember praying for the Nuns and the Children. My Teacher was Sister Mary Ellena BVM. When I was in Jr High we got a new Prinicpal at St Anthony's her name was Sister Mary Davidis and we would later learn she was in the Our Lady of Angels fire. She would become friends with Dana VanBurgh a science teacher at Dean Morgan Jr High. They both had a love for science and both were interested in Civil defense as we had the "cold war" She worked very hard on improving the method of getting out of schools during a fire drill just in case God forbid something like Our Lady of Angels would happen again, she taught the children how to get out one door in case others were blocked and how to get down and crawl out if need be and from this website I learned she lived until she was 100 and died in 2006. Although I never had her as a teacher she was very helpful to our family when my brother was critically injured in a car accident. Mary Schendel
