My brother and I are pictured in the communion photo from 1957. We transfered to OLA from St. Mary's on Hermitage Av. We lived on Leamington Av. and after about a year, were asked to move. Our landlord lived in the basement flat. He worked nights and had to sleep during the day. My brother liked to run and made noise during the day, disrupting the landlord's sleep. We moved less than a month before the fire. I don't remember any of the children that I went to school with at OLA. I guess it was too short a time to develope good friendships. I remember being chosen (luck of the draw) to crown the Blessed Virgin statue on the 2nd floor. I had a bouquet of roses and while standing outside in line, I was asked to select one person from my class to go with me in the school before everyone else went in. I don't remember her name. I hope she survived the fire. I will see her again some day and on that day, I will remember her! There will be a great reunion for all of us when we meet in heaven. I thank God for His mercy on my family. What seemed like a bad thing (being asked to move) turned out to be a great blessing.
