Lad Cleared in School Fire |
CHICAGO (AP) - 13-year-old boy was cleared in family court today of any connection with the Our Lady of the Angels school fire in which 93 children and 2 nuns perished in 1958. |
He was, however, adjudged delinquent in connection with four of seven fires set in suburban Cicero. |
The boy had been a pupil at the Roman Catholic parochial school at the time of the fire. A lie detector operator, John Reid, testified in family court that the boy, under questioning, told of setting the school fire. The boy declared in court that he had made the statement involuntarily. |
Judge Alfred J. Cilella of family court dismissed the delinquency petition based on the school fire. The boy's name was withheld because he is a minor under protection of the family court. |
The judge said he would fix the delinquency petition March 27. |
